PORT CLINTON, Pa. — Tickets will go on sale today (Feb. 15) at 9 a.m. ET for Reading & Northern Railroad’s three summer 2024 Iron Horse Rambles excursions featuring T-1 class 4-8-4 No. 2102. Two of the excursions will feature new destinations for the former Reading Co. locomotive, while the other will once again see the steam engine visit the popular destination of Jim Thorpe, Pa.
Excursions announced on Wednesday include:
— Saturday, May 25, from Reading Outer Station to Jim Thorpe, Pa. Standard coach tickets will be $79 (previously, they have been $99), while Crown Class coach tickets will be $99 (previously, they were $110). Additional upscale seating ticket options will be available by calling the railroad’s ticket office.
— Saturday, June 22, from R&N’s Nesquehoning Campus to Tunkhannock, Pa., for the 43rd annual Founder’s Day Festival, which features food and craft vendors, live music and entertainment, among other features. Departure will be at 9 a.m., with an evening return to allow ample time at the festival. Tickets will be $99 for standard coach and $110 for Crown Class coach; limited additional premium seating will be available by phone.
— Saturday, Aug. 17, from Nesquehoning to Pittston, Pa., for the annual Tomato Festival, which features food (including a spaghetti-eating contest), rides, bingo, live entertainment, and the Little Mr. and Miss Tomato contests. Departure will be at 9 a.m. with an evening return allowing time at the festival. Again, standard coach tickets will be $99 and Crown Class coach will be $110, with limited additional premium seating options available by phone.
