DeLAND, Fla. — The Florida Department of Transportation has scheduled two open-house events to familiarize residents with the soon-to-open extension of Orlando-area commuter rail service SunRail to DeLand.
The “Train Tour” events will be held Saturday, July 27, and Saturday, Aug. 3, from 9 a.m. to noon, and will offer an opportunity to visit the soon-to-be completed DeLand station and tour a SunRail train, providing attendees the opportunity to learn about the commuting and travel options SunRail will provide.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for people of the DeLand area to tour the trains, get answers to their questions, and understand how SunRail can make their lives easier,” David Cooke, the District Five Rail Administration Manager for the FDOT, said in a press release.
The DeLand station is at 2491 Old New York Avenue. Service to DeLand is being added as part of SunRail’s Phase 2 Northern Expansion, which is also adding an additional 12.2 miles of track to DeLand from the current endpoint in DeBary.
