WAUKESHA, Wis. — Trains Magazine, the world’s largest railroad media brand with print, web, video, and events aspects, is searching for a new associate editor after Brian Schmidt’s promotion to editor at Trains’ sister brand, Classic Trains magazine.
“We’re looking for someone with a strong passion for all aspects of railroading, past, present and future; a journalism education or related experience; and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment,” says Editor Jim Wrinn. “We have a beloved, strong print product; a new and expanding website; a vibrant video aspect; and trips and tours that offer customers experiences they cannot get elsewhere.”
Part of Kalmbach Media, Trains has been published monthly since 1940. Its website, www.trains.com, is new and is growing. The catalog of video and other railroad products keeps growing. Trains also offers in conjunction with Special Interest Tours a variety of domestic and international tours for railroad enthusiasts as well its own line of exclusive steam and diesel locomotive photo charters.
“Trains is about touching the hard reality of the industry as well as the excitement of railroading,” Wrinn says. “We’re there to take people to places in our pages, on our website, and if we can, in person.”
