Stay warm, guys. Yeah, info on switch heaters would be good….I used to wonder why I sometimes would see a small propane tank sitting out next to some tracks.
I wasn’t sure if you guys were planning on making a documentary covering 4014s restoration from ots start to the first move under steam but if so I have the perfect name for the film “Return Of The Giants” it serves as a homage to the film “Last Of The Giants” in that it shows the big boy coming out of retirement and showing union pacific Heritage in all its glory
Maynard, as a former Californian, I wouldn’t recommend Trains moving it’s headquarters there. Considering the high cost of living and taxes in California, I’d worry that my subscription cost which already affects my retirement budget would have to be raised. They’re doing just fine where they are.
BP ( Buffalo & Pittsburgh) rail is in Punxy. Riker yard there sees a lot of traffic bound for the Homer City Power plant. Sometimes two trains a day. Line from Punxy thru Indiana to Homer City was completely rebuilt by RJ Corman several years back. Recently an new line was rehabbed outside Creekside for a new mine and cleaning plant. This hauls coal to another power plant in the area.
Hi guys, the old Buffalo Rochester and Pittsburgh ( B&O ) went through Punxsutawney PA., now Genesee & Wyoming.
My birthday is on Ground Hog Day.
Jim, to use the phrase “IT’S COOL” while referring to the polar Vortex temperatures is a good pun.
Glad to see & hear that everyone at Trains/Kalmbach survived the polar vortex. I still think Arizona or in the San Diego area or Sacramento area would be better choices for the offices of Kalmbach etc. NO SNOW, NO FREEZING weather. Do you know where in California the Skookom loco will be going to?
Punxsutawney is the location of the BR&P/B&O/B&P (GWI) Riker Yard, which is where GWI originates trains for this cluster of lines.
