MIAMI — Tri-Rail commuter operations resumed this morning (Friday, Nov. 11) after being suspended Wednesday evening and Thursday because of Hurricane Nicole. In the Orlando area, SunRail remains shut down.

Tri-Rail crews spent much of Thursday inspecting the right-of-way for the 73.4-mile, 18-station system and reinstalling crossing gates, the operator said on its Twitter feed.

SunRail, which does not run on weekends, will not resume operations until at least Monday, Nov. 14.

In freight rail operations, as of 8 p.m. EST Thursday the Florida Department of Environmental Protection reported that service was shut down on U.S. Sugar’s South Central Florida Express; the First Coast Railroad; Florida Central Railroad; Florida Midland Railroad; Florida Northern Railroad; and Port Manatee Railroad.
