Union Pacific becomes sponsor of US Speedskating

Four-year agreement includes internship opportunities for athletes

Logo of US SpeedskatingOMAHA, Neb. — Union Pacific has become the official sponsor of U.S. Speedskating, the railroad announced Thursday.

The four-year agreement runs through March 2028. It includes Union Pacific internship opportunities for athletes preparing for post-competition careers. The first event featuring UP as a sponsor will be part of the 2024 Short Track World Tour, Nov. 1-3 in in Salt Lake City, where U.S. Speedskating is based.

“This partnership brings together two iconic brands with shared values and a passion for winning,” Union Pacific President Beth Whited said in a press release. “We’re excited to support these exceptional athletes as they race to the finish line.”

Ted Morris, executive director of U.S. Speedskating, said the organization is “dedicated to the success of our athletes from the first time they step on the ice to all they will accomplish after their skating careers. Our partnership with Union Pacific will be crucial to supporting that success on and off ice.”

U.S. Speedskating, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is the governing body of speed skating in the United States. Its athletes have won 91 Olympic medals, making it one of the most successful sports in U.S. Olympic History. More information is available at the U.S. Speedskating website.
