OMAHA, Neb. — Beth Whited has been named to Union Pacific’s newly created position as executive vice president-sustainability and strategy. The appointment by the UP board of directors is effective immediately.
Whited has been executive vice president and chief human resource officer since 2018. The company said that in her new role, she will help develop and implement UP’s strategic vision and oversee its sustainability initiatives, which have a goal of reaching net zero by 2050.
“Beth’s vast railroad experience makes her the perfect person to lead Union Pacific in these critical areas,” CEO Lance Fritz said in a press release. “Under her leadership, Union Pacific set its science-based targets, and launched award-winning [diversity, equity and inclusion] programs and employee benefits. She’ll now be a critical partner for me in our strategy discussions, decisions and implementations.”
Whited joined Union Pacific in 1987 and has held positions in marketing and sales, strategic planning, investor relations, and finance.
Lots of gobbledygook.
EVP human resources…. ….wow, she did a bang up job forecasting all the people that would quit the RR after they furloughed 1/3 of the workforce (pre-pandamic mind you.) I think she should be in charge of “strategy” …whatever that means.
Where to begin?
I guess the only legal uses of fossil fuel after electing Joe Biden are these: Air Force One, the botched withdrawal from the ‘stan, and the drone Joe Biden used to blow up innocent civilians, also in the ‘stan. For the rest of us, no fossil fuels.
Don’t you love the scene in “”Atlas Shrugged” where the farmer’s wife had to pull the plow as if she were the tractor ….
