MUSKOGEE, Okla. — Union Pacific has suffered “multiple washouts” in the Muskogee area following torrential rains early Thursday, the railroad said in a notification to customers.

Repair efforts were on hold until waters receded, UP said in the notification posted later that day. Limited reroutes were available, but customers were advised to expect delays of 24 to 48 hours.

The railroad also advised it was monitoring potential severe weather elsewhere in the south central and southeast U.S. Weather.com is advising that such storms are possible Friday over a broad area roughly defined by New Orleans and Tampa, Fla., in the south, to north of Louisville, Ky., and Richmond, Va.
