Union Pacific has promoted Chief Information Officer Rahul Jalali to executive vice president. UP

OMAHA, Neb. — Union Pacific is promoting Chief Information Officer Rahul Jalali to executive vice president, effective June 1.

He joined UP in 2020 and has most recently been a senior vice president and chief information office, and is credited by the railroad with a pivotal role in the company’s modernization efforts and leading development, implementation, and operation of UP’s information and telecommunications technologies.

“Rahul is an innovative, customer-focused leader who has guided our team in developing technology solutions that are focused on providing safe, efficient, and secure service,” CEO Lance Fritz said in a press release. “Under his leadership, I look forward to continuing to enhance how we support our employees and serve our customers through industry-leading, secure, technological advancements.”

Before joining UP, Jalali spent 23 years with Walmart Inc.

  1. I wonder what their VP ranking is. Do you have to be a freshman VP, then a sophomore VP, then a junior VP, then a senior VP, then an executive VP, what next a corporate VP

  2. From Walmart to executive vice president of the UP in three years, wow! I personally believe in promoting from the ranks, but it UP is going to go this route then maybe they need to look a Chick-fil-A for their next management hires.

    1. Remember, this is Union Pacific, nothing what they say or do means anything.
      His promotion most likely satisfies some internal hiring and staffing quota. UP is very WOKE…..
