MONTREAL — VIA Rail Canada will air its annual public meeting — a pre-recorded session featuring the passenger operator’s top officials — on Wednesday, Aug. 7, the company has announced, and is soliciting questions to be answered during that meeting.
Questions are being accepted beginning today (Wednesday, July 3), through Friday, July 5, at 11:59 p.m. at the Annual Public Meeting page of VIA’s corporate website.
The Aug. 7 meeting will be aired at 4 p.m. ET on VIA’s YouTube channel and Facebook page. Scheduled to take part are Françoise Bertrand, chairman of the board of directors; CEO Mario Péloquin; and Carl Delisle, chief financial officer.
VIA’s 2023 annual report is available here.
VIA is a terrible business (in the sense that an investor would probably not choose to put his or her money into an equity stake of the corporation), but they put out a terrific annual report. Americans would be vastly better served if the various passenger rail enterprises we depend on could manage to put out something as rigorous and comprehensible.
