The Galveston Railroad Museum suffered about $8 million in damage in September 2008 when Hurricane Ike hit the Texas Gulf Coast. The storm caused extensive water damage to the collection of rolling stock and the 1935 Santa Fe depot that is the museum’s headquarters. The museum hopes to reopen in the fall of 2009.
