Now on display at the Reading Co. Technical & Historical Society’s Reading Railroad Heritage Museum in Hamburg, Pa., office car No. 15, the Henry E. Huntington, led a rich life. No. 15 served the Reading for 40 years. Then, Philip and Diana Goldman purchased, preserved, and used the car. Author of “Going Home” in August 2009 Trains, Karl Zimmermann had the opportunity to ride No. 15 on its last run from San Antonio, Texas, to Philadelphia in October 2008.
Reading Co. car No. 15 is in its unmodernized configuration.
The Reading car was purchased by Philip Goldman in May 1964. Here it is in San Diego, Calif., in September 1968.
The car owner bestowed the name Henry E. Huntington. Huntington was the senior vice president of the Central Pacific.
Guests enjoy the view from inside the office car during its final trip.
On its final journey, No. 15 coupled to the Lake Shore Limited at Chicago Union Station on Oct. 24, 2008.
