OnTrack City Express is a 3.5-mile rail shuttle serving Syracuse, N.Y., linking the Carousel Mall, Armory Square (downtown), Syracuse University, and Colvin Street (a flag stop).

Hourly service runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, Saturday, and Sunday only

The equipment consists of self-propelled Budd Rail Diesel Cars owned and operated by the New York, Susquehanna & Western Railway. The tracks belong to the Onondaga County Industrial Development Agency, purchased from Conrail in 1993 (originally Lackawanna’s Syracuse Branch from Binghamton), but were upgraded by NYS&W for passenger operations. Susquehanna agreed to provide the service in exchange for property tax relief on the portion of the Syracuse Branch that it owns south of Jamesville, N.Y.

Service was inaugurated on September 24, 1994. OnTrack also operates special Orange Express trains, providing rail service between the Carousel Mall, Armory Square, and the Carrier Dome for passengers attending Syracuse University football and basketball games.
