Grand Bellevue Rail Dining Experience logoAlong the scenic Narragansett Bay, the Grand Bellevue Rail Dining Experience operates several different excursions on the Newport & Narragansett Bay Railroad.

Choices

The Grand Bellevue is a relaxing 2.5-hour excursion that provides elegant dinner train services of full-course meals, wine and cocktails in restored 1940s Budd dining cars. Another excursion offering is a dining and murder mystery experience. Other options include seasonal lunch outings and selected holiday events. Charters for private events including weddings are also offered onboard the train

When to go

All excursions operate on Fridays, Saturdays and select Thursdays from April to December. While dinner service is offered in February and March onboard the dining cars, the railroad’s “station-side” events has the train remaining at the station during the experience.

Good to know

When traveling on the Newport & Narragansett Bay Railroad, passengers will receive scenic views of the Narragansett Bay, Mount Hope Bridge, and the beautiful Aquidneck Island. Weather permitting, sunsets across the bay provides an excellent backdrop to cap off the day.

Worth doing

In addition to the dinner trains, Rail Explorers are also offered on the Newport & Narragansett Bay Railroad on custom-built pedal-powered vehicles. These 90-minute tours are offered from mid-April through October.

Don’t miss

Visit the nearby Newport Car Museum with 85-plus automobiles on display, representing the auto industries of Corvettes, Ford/Shelby, World Cars, Fin Cars, Mopars, American Muscle, and Porsche.

Getting there

The station in Portsmouth is easily accessed from Routes 24/114 and is only 4 miles south of the Mount Hope and Sakonnet River bridges. From Route 114, turn onto Stringham Road and follow the road to the railroad crossing. The station is located on the right ride.
