It operates on the Indiana & Ohio Railroad as a subsidiary of the Cincinnati Scenic Railway.

Choices

The railroad’s 75-minute excursions offer seating in either open-window coaches or in air-conditioned deluxe seats. On the trip, conductors provide narration that describes the railroad’s history and operation. In addition to their basic Turtle Creek Valley Flyer excursions, the LM&M offers many seasonal and theme trains, such as the Easter Bunny Express, Summer Steam Special, pizza trains, wine trains, and trains featuring PBS Kids characters.

When to go

Trains operate from February through December. The regular season begins in May with trains running at least 2-3 days a week. The season concludes in December with North Pole Express trains. Check the LM&M’s website for specific operating dates and departure times.

Good to know

The Ohio Rail Experience, which operates rare-mileage excursion trains elsewhere in the state, also serves as a subsidiary of the Cincinnati Scenic Railway with the LM&M. Trip schedules is posted on the nonprofit’s website calendar.

Worth doing

Kings Island, one of Ohio’s premier roller coaster amusement parks, is about 20 minutes away and provides family entertainment and many dining and hotel options.

Don’t miss

Plan on spending time in historic downtown Lebanon, with its classic small-town charm. Shopping, arts, antique stores, and restaurants are all within walking distance of the station.

Lebanon is north of Cincinnati and south of Dayton between interstates 71 and 75.
