Q I saw an ad for Chinese steam locomotives by Multipower International Inc., in Towaco, N.J. The company offers used and rebuilt steam locomotives for sale or can provide a custom built one. Can you tell us more about this company?
— Robert Holland, Palmdale, Calif.

A Multipower International is owned by Ge Qiang, who is originally from Harbin, Heilongjiang, China. When we bought our first SY 2-8-2, Qiang put us in touch with his brother, who worked for a big export firm in Harbin. That company was our export agent in the purchase of that locomotive. Later, we bought parts through Qiang and still later, he set up his own company to sell steam locomotives and parts. Multipower was also the agent that sold Henry Posner the QJs that he brought to the U.S.
— J. David Conrad, vice president and chief mechanical officer, The Valley Railroad Co.
