The short line, Aberdeen Carolina & Western Railway Company, debuts its rebuilt and repainted former Union Pacific E9A locomotive, No. 103, on an equipment ferry move on May 25. Then E9A leads former Norfolk Southern F9A and F9B locomotives between the company’s headquarters and main shops at Candor, N.C., and Charlotte, N.C. Here are the photos captured from this event.

  1. Good to see old UP covered wagons still on the move. I see they removed the upper vent covers that UP installed to give the E9’s better ventilation and keep hail and ice out of the ventilation hatches. Guess they aren’t needed in the Carolina weather. ” Nothing could be finah’ than to be in Carolina…”
