Host David Popp, along with various staff members from Model Railroader and Trains.com, set out to build a small semblance of the former Milwaukee, Racine, & Troy HO scale (1:87.1) layout! Although the footprint of the new East Troy Industrial Park (ETIP) model railroad will pale in comparison to the MR&T, it will be built in the same tradition and keen attention to detail as all other Model Railroader Project Layouts.
Be sure to keep up with the construction progress by linking into the Trains.com Workshop Webcam (available 24/7), and the full series of helpful, instructional videos rolling out every month until the effort concludes. Even then, the fun will continue in frequent Trains.com articles/updates and Model Railroader print features, beginning with the January 2026 issue. You won’t want to miss the new techniques and tips the crew will share with you along the way, as they have a bit of fun bringing the ETIP into fruition!
Good Luck MR Staff! Time to rebuild the MR&T.
Looking forward to seeing this!
A chance to go modern with DCC, using only WiFi throttles and JMRI programming. And perhaps a ProtoThrottle? Plus Lance Mindheim has just released a new book on industries suitable for switching as a possible guide for your RR customers.
Oooooooooo, traction? Remote Control Locomotive switching? Excitement ahead.
