The Bachmann Trains N scale Siemens SC-44 Charger diesel locomotive recently visited our Milwaukee, Racine & Troy State Line Route layout. Model Railroader editor Eric White and senior editor Cody Grivno discuss the features on the modern engine and take it for lap on our 4 x 12-foot layout.

The Bachmann N scale Siemens SC-44 Charger is decorated for Amtrak (Midwest [two road numbers], Cascades, and Pacific Surfliner schemes), Altamont Corridor Express, and North County Transit District Coaster. Each paint scheme is offered in one number unless noted.

Features on the Bachmann SC-44 Charger include an injection-molded plastic body, a dual-mode TCS WOWSound decoder with voice-guided Audio Assist, a Keep-Alive capacitor, directional lighting, and Bachmann E-Z Mate knuckle couplers. The model has a mix of molded and separate, factory-applied details, as well as a printed destination board on the front. The model is designed for layouts with an 11.25” or greater minimum radius.

The N scale SC-44 Charger has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $459. You can find this contemporary passenger diesel at your favorite Bachmann Trains retailer and on the manufacturer’s website.
