General Motors Diesel Division F59PH diesel locomotive from Rapido Trains

Eric White, Editor of Model Railroader magazine, reviews the new HO scale General Motors Diesel Division F59PH diesel locomotive from Rapido Trains and takes it on a tour of our Milwaukee, Racine & Troy staff layout. Features on the four-axle model include an injection-molded plastic body; end metal handrails with plastic stanchions; etched-metal grills; a detailed cab interior; operating headlights, rear light, and ditch lights; and underframe details including traction motor cables and piping.

The General Motors Diesel Division F59PH diesel locomotive, in hobby shops now, is decorated for Metra (Chicago), AMT (Montreal), GO Transit (Toronto), Metrolink (Los Angeles), and Trinity Railway Express (Dallas/Ft. Worth). Each paint scheme is offered in multiple road numbers; an unnumbered ex-GO Transit lease unit is also available. Rapido Trains offers the commuter unit with a dual-mode ESU LokSound sound decoder and in a direct-current version.
