The O gauge Lionel ES44AC locomotive is a release that really captures the essence of modern rail power. This Legacy model has returned rather quickly to the train-maker’s catalog in 2022 with new road names. Those include several heritage paint schemes, like the Canadian National’s Elgin, Joliet & Eastern livery shown in this video.

With its popularity among prototype railroads, the ES44AC could become one of those perennially cataloged diesels for Lionel, similar to how the SD70ACe has been for some time now.

In addition to the model shown here, the O gauge Lionel ES44AC locomotive, the 2022 catalog offerings included powered and unpowered models with Superbass. Roadnames were BNSF heritage; Canadian National Veterans; CN heritage BC Rail; CN heritage Wisconsin Central; CN heritage Illinois Central; and U.S. Armed Forces. Custom runs were U.S. Armed Forces from Trainworld; and Eric’s Trains/Appalachian & Western from Legacy Station.
